Follow these steps to become a member and start your career in the maritime industry

How to Join

Membership Process

Get your TWIC card and complete your physical examination.

Submit your TWIC card, physical confirmation, driver's license, and social security card.

Make your membership payment, complete drug test, and receive union information.

Apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Or call 1-855-347-8371

Schedule and complete a medical physical examination. Obtain your D.O.T. Department of Transportation Medical Examiner's Certificate.

Once you have your TWIC card and physical confirmation, gather the following documents:

Membership Fee$1,500

Drug Test Fee$50

Total Cost$1,550

Accepted: Cash, Money Order, or Cashier's Check (payable to ILA Local 1408)
